The PMP magazine staff was saddened to learn of the passing of 2004 Industry Hall of Famer Blanton Whitmire. He was 97. We will pass along information on any memorial services, etc., as it is made available.
Among his industry achievements — in addition to being a kind and generous human being — are:
• Philanthropy for North Carolina State University. Dr. Coby Schal is the Blanton J. Whitmire Endowed Chair and Dr. Jules Silverman is the Dr. Charles G. Wright Endowed Chair.
• Widely credited as having invented the crack-and-crevice technique.
• Founder of Whitmire Research, which became Whitmire Micro-Gen Research Labs and was eventually folded into BASF Professional Products.
